The visual learning assignment is a perfect example of this. As an aspiring language teacher I feel that visual tools are a really useful for learning. I created my on SER vs. Estar. Ser and Estar can be confusing for new language learners, the diagram I created helped explain the two verb tenses in a simple and engaging way. I plan on using the diagram with my students in the future.
The goggle spreadsheet assignment was the first assignment I really struggled with/ didn't enjoy in this class. I think I just didn't understand the practicality of it. Google already has a gradebook template and most schools use their own gradebook program. I would have enjoyed exploring another tool in google that could be more useful in the future.
Jennifer, I have really enjoyed learning about new technologies that I can one day incorporate into my classroom. I really liked your idea about using the tools learned in the visual learning assignment to help new language learners. I also kind of struggled with Google Spreadsheets, it took me a little bit to understand how to use the formulas. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you in regards to the Google Spreadsheets assignment. There are so many ways to record grades and each district is different. Plus Google Spreadsheets differs just enough from Microsoft Excel that it was frustrating! I do feel like the Google forms was an interesting assignment though. I do plan to use it to create a parent/student survey at the beginning of the year (and maybe once during mid-year) to get a sense of where my parents are, what they like/dislike, do they have questions, etc. I think it could be very useful for any age level.
